How to Apply to our Game Development Graduate Programs

At times, the career search and the application process may seem a bit overwhelming. With this in mind, we have prepared an online application process that we hope will be both enjoyable to you and informative for us. We also have a checklist for registered visitors to help you keep track of the things that you will need to have in order to complete your application.

The Application Process

1. Register or Login to the Application System. You'll be issued a personal application system logon and password.
2. Complete and submit your application. Follow the on-screen instructions. Until you submit, you can return to this site as often as you like to update your information.
3. Fill out the billing and payment information. Applications will not be reviewed until the fee is received.
4. Submit your essay. You'll use the built-in online submission facility.
5. Submit your portfolio assignment and examples as well as any other required documentation. You'll receive specific instructions regarding your portfolio and supplementary materials after you have submitted your application.

Additional Information

The non-refundable application fee is $100.00 USD. This fee can be paid by credit card, personal check, cashier's check, or money order. Please do not send cash. There is a $25 returned check fee for any returned checks. If paying the application fee at this time causes a financial hardship, please contact us about deferring payment.

In reviewing your application, the Admissions Committee looks for a good academic and personal match between student and institution, and seeks to identify students who will best benefit from and contribute to The Guildhall at SMU community in a variety of ways within and beyond the classroom. Please note, as well, we have invited input about you from family and peers.
