Production Portfolio Requirements
The production track is only offered as a specialization to our Master’s degree students. It is not offered as an option to our graduate certification students. Admission requirements for the Master’s degree program include the following:
- A baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning, with a minimum undergraduate GPA of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale).
- Requirements as listed below:
Production applicants must complete the following:
- An essay describing the applicant’s motivation, interests and life experiences as they relate to an interest in pursuing a professional career in digital game development. (Applicants to the production specialization should also focus on why they are interested in a career as a game producer and how the applicant would impact the industry as a producer.)
- Three letters of recommendation.
- In addition to the Production portfolio submission, students must also complete the portfolio assignments for ONE of the three sub-specializations art creation, level design or software development. Production students spend their first semester at The Guildhall at SMU in one of these three specializations and then start their Production specialization coursework.
- All undergraduate transcripts
- 2-3 Letters of Recommendation
- Resume
- Case Study
- A phone interview may be required.
Labeling instructions:
All submissions must have applicant’s name and Guildhall application system ID number prominently displayed. Digital media should be clearly labeled on the outside and should also contain a README text file (or MS Word file) with the applicant’s name, Guildhall application system ID number, and a list of the contents.
Note:
Applications will NOT be reviewed until all non-optional elements on this list have been received.
