Degree Requirements
As of Fall 2011, The Guildhall at SMU offers a Master in Interactive Technology degree with specializations in art creation, level design, production, and software development. A graduate Professional Certificate in Digital Game Development is also offered with specializations in art creation, level design and software development. Students in the production specialization have a secondary area of specialization – art creation, level design, or software development – and take the first three modules of that secondary major and the first two modules of the secondary minor before beginning the production courses. Given the cross-disciplinary nature of the program and the project and team based curricular approach, students are admitted in “cohorts” that pursue the program in a lockstep fashion. One cohort is admitted for the Fall semester and one cohort for the Spring semester. The degree requirements for both the master’s degree and professional certificate programs are outlined in the Program Outlines.

Completion
Students in the Professional Certificate program must complete 58 term credit hours. Students in the Master of Interactive Technology degree program must complete 64 term credit hours, which includes six (6) credit hours for a thesis. Students complete the program in nine (9) consecutive modules. The Fall and Spring semesters are divided into two modules each. Only one module is offered in the Summer term.

Completion
Students in the Professional Certificate program must complete 53 term credit hours. Students in the Master of Interactive Technology degree program must complete 58 term credit hours, which includes five (5) credit hours for a thesis. Students complete the program in seven (7) consecutive modules. The Fall and Spring semesters are divided into two modules each. Only one module is offered in the Summer term.
