Snowball Effect

Team: Diamondz In My Mouf Productions
Theme: Snowmen
Genre: First Person Team Game
Engine: UT2K4
Cohort: Cohort 07, Mar '08

Snowball Effect is a team-play oriented modification for Unreal Tournament 2004 in which two teams of snowmen attempt to seize and secure three mystical Penguin Idols, which hold the secrets to sending the world into everlasting winter. Using anti-snowman weaponry such as the Rock Salt Gun, the Coal Buster, and a Hot Poker Rifle, players must fight their way through massive ice caverns, picturesque neighborhoods, and snow-covered valleys in order to capture the Penguin Idols.

This project took just under four months to complete and came with unique challenges for each specialty. Artists had to create and animate snowman player models and weapon models, and work with the Level Designers to maintain the distinct art style throughout each level. Programmers had to make the game unique from a technical standpoint, coding the base game type, the weapon behaviors, a custom GUI and HUD, and more. Level Designers had to bring it all together, with levels that made the game entertaining to watch and to play.
